Run your way to fitness

Despite technology having pinned us down to our seats through various forms of social media and communication channels, the desire to be fit and be healthy is ever popular. The popularity of fitness bands,pedometers and smart watches have promoted the concept of a healthy active lifestyle, esp that involves a lot of walking and running.

Though there are countless ways and tips to be healthy, lose weight and be fit, there’s nothing that comes close to the joy of running. Running, for defined intervals, on a periodic basis has in-numerous benefits that can basically eliminate your whole medical cabinet

So how does running help in maintaining one’s health and beauty? 

  • Stress : Stress can be one of the most damaging factors of health as it takes both a physical and mental stress . Running helps you to destress completely and helps you spend all that energy in a much more focussed manner. It gives you a great diversion as compared to a monotonous lifestyle
  • Losing Weight :Without doubt, running is the single most effective exercise that helps you to lose weight pretty quickly and in a much healthy manner. The body burns every bit of that excess calorie/energy as you run and effectively burns away the fat. 
  • Beauty : Running not only helps in maintaining good health , but it also helps in releasing endorphines, brings out those toxins through sweat and gives you a clear skin. With those shedding of fat and a lean body through running, you just got yourself a whole new makeover as well
  • Immune System and Strength : Ask any athelete, fitness expert or sportsman .Their only advice to excel at your sport is to go for regular running. Running aids in providing a robust immune system, strengthens your calf muscles and bone density and hence giving you stamina and strength

Run to Breathe

 

Interestingly, a NGO  called “Royon Samajik Sansthan”, which works towards public health, education and social initiatives have come up with a Heritage Run concept. Their campaign titled “Vedaan Run to Breathe” aims to organize runs and further widen public awareness on critical social issues.

To make these runs more interesting, they have partnered with Archaeological Survey of India and have kept the venues in heritage sites, thereby bringing out the cultural importance, diversity and the importance behind these beautiful places. Some of these cities included Rajasthan, Bihar, Ghaziabad and even in the foothills of Himachal Pradesh.

In particular the Heritage run at Haldighati, Rajasthan held on Oct 9,2016 is a highly anticipated event. 


Geography and History of Haldighati, Rajasthan 


Haldighati is a mountain pass in the Aravalli Range of Rajasthan in western India which connects Rajsamand and Pali districts. The pass is located at a distance of 40 kilometres from Udaipur and approx. 300Kms from Jaipur/Ahmedabad.


The mountain pass is historically a very significant location . It is the site of the famous Battle of Haldighati, which took place in 1576 between the Kingdom of Mewar and the Mughal Army led by king Mansingh. Maharana Pratap led the armed forces of Mewar against the Mughals who fought under the command of Mughal emperor Akbar’s general Man Singh I of Amer.

The exciting Haldighati run will be along spectacular scenic routes and will cover 4 ASI Heritage Sites present alongside the Haldighati Run Route viz. Haldighati Pass, Chetak Memorial, Rakht Talai and Badshahi Baug. You can get to run in the following categories: 2.5Kms, 5Kms, 10Kms and 21Kms
